When Hurricanes Katrina and Rita hit Louisiana in September of 2005, a lot of attention was paid to the city of New Orleans and the devastation it experienced. Many other cities and towns were affected by Katrina, however, several of them in rural areas are dependant on farming for their survival. Thankfully, The Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation, the state’s largest organization representing farmers and ranchers, was working even before the shock of the hurricanes wore off to help Louisiana’s farmers with the rebuilding process. Unfortunately, they ran into a problem when power surges from the storms damaged hard drives containing crucial business data.
